GENERAL INFORMATION for Concerto Competition:

District Concerto Competition Auditions will be held on February 25, 2018 at State College of Florida, 5840 26th Street West,Bradenton. This date allows for the winners’ names to be submitted to the State Concerto Chairman six weeks prior to the State Competitive Events Day in May.  
 
Auditions are open to any student of the correct age level as of June 1st of the competition year :
             Elementary (non-competitive) – through age 12 - $15
             Junior – through age 12 - $20.00
          Intermediate – age 13 through 15 - $20.00
             Senior – age 16 through 18 - $20.00
 
Winners from these three categories are eligible to advance to the State Competition. The fee to advance to the state competition is $40.00. State winners receive cash awards.  (Those performing in the Elementary category play "easy" concerti and do not go on  to compete at the state level.)
For teachers who are not members of MCMTA the entry fee for their pupils is $40.00.
 
Teachers wishing to enter students can find them online at this link where the following three forms will be posted: (1) Information, (2) Rules and Application and (3) Vocal Requirements. In addition to submitting the application online, it is necessary to save as a PDF file attachment and mail the printed application pages and the check to cover the fee to Luci K. Majikas, M.M., 6216 29th Avenue, West, Bradenton, FL 34209. The check is to be made out to FSMTA District VIII and all materials are to be submitted by January 25th. In addition, there will be a fee required from the winner of each level going on to the State event ($40.00 for students of MCMTA members and $80.00 for students of non-members). A photo and short bio are to be emailed to the state concerto chair Ken Hanks within a week of winning.  Winners in the Senior division at State Finals are required to perform at the FSTMA conference in the fall of 2018. If available, an orchestra will play the concerto movement with soloists.
 
One winner, one alternate, and one honorable mention may be selected from each of the following classifications: Piano, Voice, Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, Organ, Guitar, and Percussion.  Chamber groups compete only at state level.
